Quizdom

Quizdom is used to in class for the teachers to set questions on a topic, each individual answers the question and the the scores are recorded in graphs so that the teachers can further their support. This is a more interactive way of assessing knowledge and appears to be more fun and less intimidating than set tests conditions with paper.

Can also be used for staff training sessions and introductions to topics to find out what the pupils already know.
could be used with late KS1 and KS2 children but due to the reading aspect would not work with early years.

Tuffcams

Tuffcams are a great ways of allowing children to record their own learning and take control. They are easy to use in early years and can be uploaded on to the computer within a click! They can be used to record an outdoor experience or in KS1 may be used during movie maker so that the children can choose their own sequence.

Interactive Whiteboards.

Interactive whiteboards are used as an interactive way of involving the children in taught lessons, they can be used in many different ways with all programs that are used on the computer. They simply show on a large screen what is happening on the computer but the interactive part means that children can touch the screen to move objects, write and draw. As long as they are aligned accurately they are a great way of demonstrating both how to do something and how to provide a constructive environment..
Advantages:
  • Simple to use.
  • colloborative
  • provides for all learning styles.
  • motivates children
  • demonstrates visually.
  • variety of programs/ resources used.
  • can be used to show children how to access learnings walls.


Disadvantages:
  • Best not to rely on them for a lesson as when if their are any problems with their use then the lesson will be at risk.
  • can be overused.
  • can be delicate if not used properley

Easy Speak :

Podcasting using Easy speak

Easi-Speak is used to record directly into the microphone and playback remotely or download your files straight to your PC through the attached USB. Downloaded files are WAV or MP3 format, therefore can be used in podcasting or uploading to use in class.
Audacity allow you to edit the recording taken from easy speak.
Positives:
  • helps children relfect on their learning.
  • supports bilingual and EAL learners
  • Audacity Music Editing Software is provided as file on the Easi-Speak
  • buttons are simple and clear to use.
  • can be used in groups.
  • versatile and easy to connect to the computers.
  • suitable for early years and KS1.

Difficulties :
  • easy speaks can take some practice to use efficiently.
